Dr. Angela Reddix announces the third cohort for women of color entrepreneurs

By Ian Williams

Dr. Angela Reddix recently announced the winners of her third annual Reddix Rules program at Mt. Trashmore. Reddix Rules is a “Millionaire competition” that focuses on the advancement of minority businesses.

The program began in 2020 to help women of color who pioneered a new business during COVID-19 to be successful entrepreneurs. Dr. Reddix noticed how many people were affected during the pandemic and recognized how significantly Black-owned businesses suffered compared to other cultural or ethnic-owned companies.

She started her program intending to gift 13 companies $2,020. However, after the media picked up her story, people contributed to her cause, allowing her to help seven more businesses.

This encouraged her to cultivate more prosperity in the people she helped. After the first year, she understood money was not the only thing these entrepreneurs needed to succeed. Reddix knew that she needed to educate these companies through her program.

“The next year, I realized, in order for businesses to strive, they need more than the money. They’re going to need entrepreneurial, operational excellence training, and they’re going to need resilience coaching,” said Reddix.

The second cohort underwent training throughout the summer of 2021. Each week the entrepreneurs focused on different aspects of their training through mentoring or one-on-one coaching. Every day they would learn how to improve other aspects of their company and head back home to tend to their regular lives.

After the program’s conclusion, Dr. Reddix wanted to be able to improve the opportunity once more. She decided to create a better environment for the participants to concentrate.

Today, Reddix Rules is a free, one-week retreat at an undisclosed location in Chesapeake, Virginia, for the cohort of women to focus on their businesses. The program will be held from August 1st -5th from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.

“We are going to focus from sunup to sundown on building the business of the future,” said Reddix.

On August 11th, 2022, the cohort will return to pitch their businesses to judges, who will determine the contestants’ level of grant money they will receive. The contenders will be sharing $20,000 in COVID-19 assistance grants. The winner will receive $10,000, the runner-up will get $5,000, the third-place winner will receive $3,000, and the rest of the contestants will get $500. In addition to receiving grants, potential investors will also be among the audience. The following day, August 12th, 2022, the public is invited to see these women graduate from the program.

Dr. Reddix is no stranger to knowing what it takes to run a successful business. She is the CEO and founder of ARDX®. Her company is an international healthcare and IT consulting firm.

“I am a successful business owner in the Hampton Roads Area with staff all over the United States. We have successfully reached the 15-year goal that I could have never envisioned, and so I know that this is supernatural, and it is for the purpose of giving back to others,” said Reddix. “I’m starting with women of color and those who have already demonstrated that they have the grit to really be able to run what it takes to be successful in business. They just need another support with knowledge.”
