NORFOLK, VA – For one day only, the Virginia Zoo, as well as other participating museums across the country, will emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based facilities, which offer free admission every day, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket.
Museum Day Live! is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge. Over 200,000 people downloaded tickets for the event in 2016, and 2,000 of those tickets were used for admission to the Zoo. This year’s event is expected to attract more visitors than ever before.
This year, Museum Day Live! festivities at the Zoo will correspond with World Rhino Day and feature discovery carts, ZooLive! Stage shows featuring animal ambassadors, story time, crafts, Keeper chats and more!
The Museum Day Live! ticket is available for download at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-live-2017/. Visitors who present the downloadable ticket will gain free entrance for two at the Zoo on September 23, 2017. One ticket per email address is permitted.
