NSU Women’s Basketball program to host 4 summer camps

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women’s basketball program will host four summer camps in the coming months at Echols Hall aimed at providing young players of varying ages and skill levels an opportunity to learn from Spartan coaches and hone their abilities.

The program will host a pair of day camps for boys and girls ages 7-17, the first running from June 26-29 and another from Aug. 7-10. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with registration set for 8 a.m. the Monday of each camp. The cost is $150.

The day camps will provide campers the opportunity to work on their complete game and will include drills, lectures, games, competitions and other skill development activities. Throughout camp, the staff will emphasize fun and fundamentals. Daily instruction and stations will focus on dribbling, ball-handling, shooting, rebounding and defensive techniques. Organized games between campers will provide a competitive outlet after specific drills have been practiced. Basic skill development will be available for those who need it.

Lunch, snacks and apparel will be available for purchase at both day camps.

Two elite camps for rising ninth through 12th grade girls will also be held, one on Saturday, June 24 and one on Saturday, Aug. 5. These camps will consist of a dynamic series of drills, competitions and scrimmages designed to prepare campers for the realities of playing at a collegiate level. Campers will benefit from intense workouts and individual instruction from current coaches. A Nike T-shirt and lunch will be provided for each camper. The cost is just $50 and each camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Interested individuals can register online at www.nsuwomensbasketballcamps.com. Cash payments or checks made out to NSUAF, Attn: WBB will also be accepted. For more information, contact assistant coach Danielle Bell at dabell@nsu.edu or 757-823-2132.
