PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — Crews have suspended the search for a man missing from Gloucester Point.
Media outlets report that Coast Guard officials said in a news release Tuesday that multiple agencies had been assisting in the search for 58-year-old Michael Ballard, who was last seen near the Gloucester Point Boat Ramp.
Ballard, of Montpelier, was reported missing Tuesday morning by his wife after he did not return from a kayaking trip on Monday.
Authorities say they found Ballard’s vehicle parked at the ramp, but there was no sign of him or his kayak.
Security cameras captured Ballard arriving with the kayak attached to his vehicle.
Several agencies including the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and Virginia Marine Police assisted in the search.
