NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University Director of Athletics Marty L. Miller was recently selected to serve on the NCAA’s Limited Resource Institution (LRI) Director of Athletics Task Force.
The task force will spend time developing strategies for highlighting the success of limited resource institutions and historically black colleges and universities.
The mission of the task force is to develop a sense of community among participating athletics directors that will provide an opportunity for open discussion on important matters. Focus areas will include student-athlete success and strategies to support that success, coach accountability for academic success and bridging the gap.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to assist with developing strategies and best practices to meet some of the challenges facing HBCUs and other limited-resource institutions,” Miller said. “It is rewarding to know that your body of work over the years is considered valuable enough to enhance the viability of our institutions and improve the environment to create positive outcomes for student-athletes.”
Miller will serve a three-year term on the task force through July of 2019.
