Norfolk State junior Ronald Korir was named the cross country co-Runner of the week.

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior Ronald Korir was named the Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference office announced on Wednesday.

He led the Spartans to a second-place finish at the 8K George Mason Invitational last Saturday in Leesburg, Va. The field featured host George Mason, which is ranked 13th in the southeast regional polls, as well as American University, Christendom College, Kent State and Mount St. Mary’s.

Korir, a native of Iten, Kenya, crossed the finish line first in a time of 24 minutes, 53.1 seconds. His time is the second fastest in the 8K distance in the MEAC this season.

This is his first MEAC Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.

Korir and the rest of the Norfolk State men’s cross country team return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational.
