NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A 12-year-old student in Norfolk has been accused of threatening to harm his classmates.
Local media outlets report that police say the unidentified Norview Middle School student was charged Thursday with threats of death or bodily injury to a person or persons on school property.
Detectives say they were called to the school Tuesday morning, where officials told officers that a student had written threats to hurt his classmates. No one was injured.
Police say the student was taken to the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.
Norfolk Public Schools issued a statement saying the Norview Middle School staff took the necessary steps to make sure all students and staff were safe and followed up appropriately with certain parents and students regarding the incident, which remains under investigation.
