On Friday, Sept. 16, Eddie N. Moore, Jr. was invested as the sixth president of Norfolk State University. The Board of Visitors appointed Eddie N. Moore, Jr. as President and CEO of Norfolk State University on December 11, 2015. The Investiture Ceremony is to inaugurate Eddie N. Moore, Jr. as the President and CEO of Norfolk State University and to congratulate him.
Many students, staff, faculty and distinguished guests attended the ceremony including the honorable Governor Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe praised President Moore for the excellent job he has done and will continue to do in the future for the university. Representatives of the faculty, staff, student body, and alumni expressed thanks and showed their support with applause and ovations.
President and CEO Eddie N. Moore, Jr. took the oath to uphold the constitution of the United States and to do his best to take Norfolk State University into the future. President Moore gave a speech thanking his family and friends and the Norfolk State University community for their support. He accepted the duty of making sure Norfolk State stays at the forefront of education and carries on its deep traditions of higher learning. President Moore said that although Norfolk State has had some downfalls, the university has made the steps to improve the enrollment, graduation rates and retention, and accreditation standards to be a better institution of higher education. President Moore wants NSU to continue to forge forward and onward to a better future.
