NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Construction is underway for a new outlet mall in Norfolk.
Media outlets report that a groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday at the site of the Norfolk Premium Outlets.
The 85-store shopping center is expected to open in the summer of 2017.
Simon Property Group, which is developing the property, says the 332,000 square foot mall will create a mix of 800 full- and part-time jobs when it opens.
Officials have not said which stores will be coming to the mall.
The mall is expected to bring in more than $3 million in tax revenue to Norfolk.
