NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — An official at Norfolk International Airport says two Navy fighter jets on a training mission made successful emergency landings after running low on fuel.
Airport deputy executive director Robert Bowen says the F/A-18 pilots landed Wednesday, Jan 13, at Norfolk International Airport after determining that the runways at two nearby bases weren’t available because of other operations.
Bowen tells The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1RQsFCX ) that the jets refueled and returned to Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach about two hours later.
