1 dead in early morning shooting in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — Authorities say that one person has died after an early morning shooting in Portsmouth.

Detective Misty Holley of the Portsmouth Police Department tells WAVY-TV (http://bit.ly/1LBqKea ) that an officer heard gunshots around 2 a.m. Thursday and found the two injured victims in the Old Towne section of the city.

Police said that 23-year-old Terrance L. Hoggard of Suffolk was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another man who shot was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His name has not yet been released.
