Norfolk State University is proud to announce the launch of Norfolk State University Online Student Organization (NSU-OSO). NSU-OSO is an online student organization for students taking online courses. NSU-OSO welcomes any and all NSU students who are enrolled in online courses and wish to stay in the loop with happenings on NSU’s campus when they cannot be physically present.
NSU-OSO is tied in with Blackboard, which should already be a familiar learning tool with Norfolk State students. Through Blackboard, NSU-OSO allows for a step-by-step self-enrollment process into the organization. Once enrolled, students are free to navigate the system and interact with other students as well as keep up to date with events on Norfolk State’s campus.
Through NSU-OSO, everything between other on-campus organizations can be linked with online organizations. Students will also be able to interact not only with their classmates but with other students who are enrolled in courses that use Blackboard. NSU-OSO hopes to promote an interest in online learning with the organization while attending to the needs of its online students in ways which they have not been assisted before. NSU-OSO informs students that their professors might be using Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor for proctoring. These tools allow for privacy and identity confidentiality online while maintaining academic integrity. Additionally, students can now use Adobe Connect or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (web conferencing tools) to get together, discuss happenings on campus, or meet synchronously with their professors. These tools will add a social presence for students who are enrolled in online courses.
