COUNCIL, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police are investigating a wreck that killed a woman and two young boys.

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says 18-year-old Carmela M. Johnson of Honaker, 5-year-old Justin L. Blevins Jr. and his brother, 3-year-old Jonah I. Blevins, died at the scene.

The boys’ father, 25-year-old Justin L. Blevins of Elizabethton, Tennessee, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Bristol hospital for treatment.

Geller says in a news release that a vehicle driven by Blevins ran off the right side of Route 600 in Council on Wednesday afternoon. Blevins lost control and the vehicle crossed the road, ran off the left side and hit a tree.

Johnson was wearing a seatbelt and the boys were in child seats.
