NEW YORK (AP) — There’s even more excitement in store for Game 3 of the World Series.

A spokesman for Billy Joel tells Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1k9ibRX ) the “Piano Man” will lead Citi Field in the national anthem prior to the game Friday night between the Mets and the Kansas City Royals.

The Mets have a long history with Joel.

This season, they played Joel’s “Piano Man” as a sing-along in the middle of the 8th inning break and sometimes played “New York State of Mind” after a Citi Field win.

Last week, Joel sang “Meet the Mets” and gave score updates from the NLCS’s Game 4 during a concert at Madison Square Garden.

Joel also sang the anthem during Game 1 of the 2000 World Series between the Mets and Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
