NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball program was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Academic Team this week for having a team GPA above 3.0.

The NFCA announced its team academic honors for the 2014-15 school year, and NSU was the only program in the 13-team MEAC to find itself on the list. The Spartans ranked tied for 92nd in the nation with a team GPA of 3.11.

The NFCA recognized teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as NAIA, junior colleges and the high school ranks. Visit www.nfca.org for the complete listing of schools honored by the organization.

Last week, NSU had three individual players recognized by the NFCA on the All-America Scholar Athlete Team. Only one other player from the league was named to that academic team for having an individual GPA of 3.5 or better during the 2014-15 school year.
