Navy: Sailor dies in Va. after collapsing on run

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Navy says one of its sailors has died after collapsing during a training run at Fort Monroe in Hampton.

Naval Air Force Atlantic says the sailor was assigned to the future USS Gerald R. Ford, which is an aircraft carrier under construction in Newport News.

The Navy has not released the identity of the sailor. The Navy says the sailor was participating in a group run on Tuesday morning and collapsed at the beginning of the run.

The Navy says the sailor was immediately treated by hospital corpsmen before being taken to a hospital in Hampton.

The Navy says the incident is under investigation.
