Family sues after they say student attacked daughter on bus

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — The parents of an elementary school student they say was attacked on her school bus in Prince George’s County have filed a lawsuit against the county and the public school system.

The suit, filed Wednesday, accuses the parties of negligence and asks for $10 million in compensation after the girl’s parents say their 9-year-old daughter was attacked on the bus by another student May 8. The parents say they first learned about the attack from astudent’s cell phone video.

The lawsuit lists the defendants as Prince George’s County, the Board of Education, a bus driver and the principal and vice principals of the school.

A representative for the school system says the district will review court documents and proceed with the appropriate action. The bus driver is under investigation.
