NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball team will appear on ESPNU for the second time in three years when the Spartans take on Hampton this Friday at 3 p.m. at Hampton’s Lady Pirates Softball Stadium.
The game was originally set to be played on Sunday to close out the three-game series with the Pirates and the regular season for both teams. The contest was moved to its current Friday timeslot to accommodate the television broadcast, which will also include a live stream on ESPN3. Saturday’s doubleheader will still start at the normal 1 p.m. time.
The Spartans last appeared on an ESPN platform two years ago when they played at Hampton on May 4, 2013. NSU also made appearances on ESPNU in 2007 and ’08 at home against Florida A&M and Hampton, respectively.
This year marks the 10th straight season ESPNU has broadcast a regular-season MEAC softball game.
NSU currently sits 11-4 in the MEAC and 12-22 overall. The Spartans are tied for first with Delaware State in the MEAC Northern Division and are a half game ahead of Hampton (7-4).
