The Cousinz Festival, held in Norfolk, Virginia the heart of the 757 was a celebration of music, culture, and community, co-founded by Virginia native Antonio Dowe alongside rap icons Pusha T and Famlay. This highly anticipated event attracted over 12,000 attendees to the Norfolk Scope grounds, creating a family reunion-like atmosphere.
Headlining the festival were musical powerhouses such as Erykah Badu, Larry June, Lion Babe, and a special DJ set by Jermaine Dupri.
The festival opened with a performance by Norfolk State University’s renowned Spartan Legion marching band. The entertainment continued with DJ sets by HBCU alumni Jae Murphy, DJ Envy, and Izzy the DJ.
Norfolk State University students were also part of the action, as multiple students received $500 scholarships from co-founder Famlay, aimed at assisting with textbook costs and other academic needs.

The festival’s Vendor Village showcased an array of local businesses, including popular food trucks like Trill Burgers and Slutty Vegan, offering fan-favorite menu items. The family-friendly atmosphere was evident throughout the day, with a strong sense of community at every corner.
In a backstage interview with founders Pusha T and Famlay, when asked why they chose Virginia as the festival’s location,
Famlay explained, “It’s always a good thing to build something where your family is and where your ‘cousinz’ are.”
Pusha T added, “It’s all about giving back. Virginia has given us so much, and we want to be the ones inspiring the next generation.”
The musical performances kicked off with Virginia’s own “Art of Noise RVA,” followed by sets from Larry June and Lion Babe. The night concluded with performance by four-time Grammy Award-winner Erykah Badu, who delivered fan-favorite hits like “Tyrone,” “On & On,” and “Window Seat.”
Cousinz Festival was more than just a musical event—it was a celebration of community, supporting both the local area and the future of Norfolk State University students.
