Virginia is home to many influential music artists today. Some of these artists range from Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Pharrell and his pop group N.E.R.D., Chris Brown and many others. However, many of these artists have broken through into the music industry over a decade ago and it is time for a new group of artists to join the Virginia fold.

Artists such as D.R.A.M., with his hit single “Cha Cha” have brought a light to new musical talents from Virginia. Along with a co-sign from Drake and Beyonce, D.R.A.M. has helped attract more ears to the Virginia area.

Upcoming artists such as Levi Carter with his mellow rap style and dark beat selection, Masego with his new wave jazz sound, and Young Crazy with his bass filled tunes and rough rap style, help bring diversity to Virginia’s rich selection of sounds. The State for Lovers has a very wide catalog of sounds ranging from trap music to mellow summertime songs you can vibe out to.

Producers are making a name for their work as well. Timbaland, being the forerunner for production in Virginia, has inspired many producers in the area. Talents from Lex Luger, Andre Palace, and Mikey Carey to name a few, are becoming the next group of artists from Virginia to bring a new type of style to music.
