LOS ANGELES (AP) â For its next open-world game, Ubisoft is combining collaborative multiplayer action with snowy extreme sports.
The video game publisher capped off its Electronic Entertainment Expo presentation Monday with a first look at “Steep.” The game will set players loose on a virtual rendition of the Alps where they can ski, snowboard, paraglide and base-jump from mountain cliffs.
It’s a topic the game’s creators know well. The development of “Steep” is being led by Ubisoft’s studio at the base of the Alps in Annecy, France.
“This game will give you a chance to challenge your friends and to share your adventures with the community,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said. “It’s a completely new genre.”
Ubisoft also showcased the superhero-themed “South Park: The Fractured But Whole,” virtual reality starship simulator “Star Trek: Bridge Crew,” open-world tactical shooter “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands,” and hand-to-hand battle game “For Honor.”
