RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A man has been cited on state weapons charges after he was caught with a loaded gun at a security checkpoint at Richmond International Airport.
Transportation Security Administration officials said in a news release that the incident happened Monday.
The man was stopped when TSA officers detected a handgun in one of the unidentified man’s carry-on bags as he entered the checkpoint. Officials say the gun was loaded with six bullets.
TSA officials contacted airport police, who confiscated the gun and cited the man.
Weapons — including firearms, firearm parts and ammunition-are not permitted in carry-on bags, but can be transported in checked bags if they are properly packed.
