NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration says two guns have been found at Norfolk International Airport’s checkpoint in less than a week.

The latest incident occurred early Monday when TSA officers detected a loaded .380-caliber handgun in a Rappahannock County woman’s carry-on bag. The agency says in a news release that one of the six rounds was in the gun’s chamber.

On Friday, a loaded 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun was detected in a Hanover County man’s carry-on bag.

Airport police confiscated both weapons and cited the man and the woman on a state weapons charge.

The TSA says 15 guns have been detected at the X-ray checkpoint so far this year. That’s more than double the number of guns found during all of 2014.
