PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to a year in jail after prosecutors say she ordered her child to fight a student she held down last month.

Multiple media outlets report that 27-year-old Jeneve Marshall pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of disorderly conduct, four counts of assault and battery of a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police say Marshall confronted a student in her child’s class who had been in a previous altercation with her child. Marshall held the student down and ordered her child to fight the student.

The student broke free from Marshall, but police say Marshall chased down the child and assaulted three other children who were in her way. The children suffered minor injuries.
