WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is canceling a scheduled rally in Virginia ahead of Hurricane Joaquin.

Trump had been scheduled to attend a rally at the Wave Convention Center Friday, October 2, 2015, evening in Virginia Beach.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency Wednesday afternoon, allowing emergency responders to begin to prepare for the storm.

Trump says in a statement he’d been expected 10,000 to attend the event.

He says he plans to reschedule soon.

He’s still planning to travel to Tennessee for a rally Saturday, October 3rd.
