RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The University of Richmond has moved fall performances at the Alice Jepson Theatre to other locations after a faulty sprinkler damaged the venue.

The university tells multiple media outlets that portions of the stage, ceiling, electrical systems, sound and light equipment, and a hydraulic system used to raise and lower the orchestra pit sustained extensive damage. Props stored below the stage also were damaged.

The university says it’s working to give subscribers and ticket buyers comparable seats at the other venues.

University officials expect to reopen the theater located in the Modlin Center for the Arts in January.
