NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Four Norfolk police officers who were involved in the arrest of a college student who was bitten by a police dog as officers held her down are no longer with the department.
Police Chief Michael Goldsmith announced the officers’ departure from the force Friday night, but he did not say if they were fired or they resigned.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1y6bRRA ) reported that Goldsmith said in the statement the four did not represent “the values of my department.”
Witnesses say Norfolk State University student London Colvin was attacked and bitten by the police dog on Jan. 25.
In February, charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest against Colvin were dropped.
Goldsmith said in the statement he has revised the department’s K-9 policy.
