STRATFORD, N.J. – The No. 19 Norfolk State bowling team was able to make a final push and finish 12th at the conclusion of the USBC XBowling Intercollegiate Team Sectionals this weekend at the 30 Strikes Bowling Center.

The Spartans bowled 64 Baker games over the course of Saturday and Sunday, breaking the results into four 16-game totals. NSU ranked either 14th or 15th out of 15 teams after each of the first three blocks.

It did finish with a pin total of 168 more after the fourth block of games than any of the previous three, thanks to five straight 200 games late in the tournament. That allowed the Spartans to move from 15th to 12th in the final standings.

NSU finished with a total pinfall of 11,283 and was 717 pins out of fourth place.

The top four qualifiers at each of the four sectionals advanced to the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship in April.

NSU will compete in the MEAC Championship this Friday through Sunday at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake.
