GREENVILLE, N.C. – Seniors Pascal Domnik and Daniel Grauel each won their singles matches, but the Norfolk State men’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback at the hands of UNC Asheville on Saturday morning at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center.
Grauel had the easier time in his match at No. 3 singles. He earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Josh Swindler. Domnik, meanwhile, was in a battle at the top singles position. He won in straight sets over Daniel Kripak, but was forced to play a little extra as he won 7-5, 7-5. Domnik has won all five of his singles matches in 2015.

Domnik and Grauel also competed at No. 1 doubles. There, they came up short in a 6-3 loss to Brett Landau and Alex Croker.

The loss dropped NSU to 1-4 on the season, while UNC Asheville improved its record to 2-0.

Senior Igor Braga took several games at No. 2 singles, but he ultimately fell to Thomas Panoulas by a 6-4, 6-2 score. Braga also teamed up with senior Alex Killam at No. 2 doubles, dropping a 6-1 match to Panoulas and Reid Dillon.

Killam, at No. 5 singles, and junior Terey Hackney, at No. 4 singles, were both swept by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Hackney lost to Croker, while Killam dropped his contest against Landau. Will Goldberg won the sixth singles position for UNC Asheville by default.

The Spartans will next play at William & Mary at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
