Norfolk man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — An April sentencing is set for a Norfolk man after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1z7GL5u ) reports that 43-year-old Cortez Scott entered his plea Monday in Norfolk Circuit Court.

According to court documents, Scott admitted that he hit 43-year-old Rosa Powell in the head with a wrench several times after they got into an argument. Scott also said he stomped on Powell while she was on the ground.

Powell’s body was found along the side of a road on March 15, 2014, 10 days after her family reported her missing.

Scott is scheduled to be sentenced April 16.
