NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — D’Shon Taylor scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Norfolk State to an 84-66 win over Howard on Monday night.
The win ties the Spartans (15-15, 11-4) with South Carolina State for second place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with one regular-season game remaining. The game was the final regular-season contest for Howard.
Jordan Butler finished with 18 points and Charles Oliver added 16 points and eight boards for NorfolkState.
Marcel Boyd scored 16 points and added 11 rebounds for Howard (12-19, 6-10). James Daniel scored 15.
Norfolk State had a 15-4 lead in the first half and led 45-27 at the break. Howard battled back, opening the second half on a 25-10 scoring stretch, capped by a Daniel’s 3-pointer, which cut it to 55-52.
But the Spartans responded with a 15-6 run of their own to extended the lead back to double digits.
